He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Magazine #7 is the summer 1986 issue; this one is predominantly Snake Men-themed.
Within these pages is an announcement of the live-action movie and the casting of Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, as well as a chance to win a part in the film (which turned out to be the staff-holding background minion Pigboy). There’s also the promise of movie-themed features in the next three issues.
In Paul Kirchner’s story, “The Armies of King Hiss,” Skeletor leaves his captive unsupervised, He-Man makes baseball and bowling jokes, and creates an energy field with his sword. In other words, it’s the same low quality of story we usually get.
Activities of note: there’s a pretty good stained-glass coloring activity, a rather advanced maze, an obnoxious learn-all-the-Meteorbs activity, and instructions on how to start a secret He-Man club with your friends. On the whole, it’s a better class of activities than this magazine has offered in the past.
The two Earl Norem posters here are the cover and one featuring the Meteorbs, which are still super-lame even when Norem paints them.
